He is known for his roles in the television series Empire and Shooter, as well as for his work in films such as Diary of a Mad Black Woman and Think Like a Man Too. In addition to acting, Carter has had a career in music as an R&B and gospel performer.

Terrell Carter was born on August 13, 1975, in Buffalo, where he was also raised. He began his career in entertainment through music, initially performing gospel and R&B.

Music career
Carter began his professional career as a singer, touring with gospel artist Fred Hammond as part of the group Radical for Christ. He later worked as a songwriter and vocalist in New York, collaborating under the Bad Boy label alongside Sean “Diddy” Combs.
He was subsequently signed by Quincy Jones for music publishing and worked with artists such as Patti LaBelle, Beyoncé, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, and Christina Aguilera.
Acting career
Carter made his film debut in Diary of a Mad Black Woman (2005), directed by Tyler Perry, where he also performed the song “Father Can You Hear Me.”
He later appeared in Think Like a Man Too (2014), which, like his debut film, opened at number one at the box office.
On television, Carter gained wider recognition for his recurring role as Warren Hall in the Fox drama Empire (2017–2019), starring alongside Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard.
He also appeared in the USA Network series Shooter and has had roles in productions such as A House Divided, From Scratch, and Beauty in Black.
In addition to film and television, Carter performed in several stage productions by Tyler Perry, including Madea’s Class Reunion, Meet the Browns, and What’s Done in the Dark.
