Early life and education
Isabel Rosales was born in Cuba and immigrated to the United States with her family at the age of six, settling in Louisville, Kentucky. She attended the University of Kentucky, graduating summa cum laude with a double major in journalism and Spanish, and earning a certificate in global studies. Rosales is also a graduate of the FBI Tampa Citizens Academy.
Career
Rosales began her journalism career in 2014 at WHSV in Harrisonburg, Virginia, where she worked as a reporter. She later joined WFTS in Tampa, Florida, serving first as a Latino beat reporter, then as a crime reporter and weekend evening anchor. During her time at WFTS, Rosales covered issues including community inequities, law enforcement accountability, and breaking news stories.
In 2021, Rosales joined CNN Newsource as a national correspondent in Washington, D.C., reporting stories for CNN’s network of more than 1,000 affiliate stations. In 2023, she was promoted to Atlanta-based national correspondent for CNN, where she covers domestic news and contributes to CNN’s national reporting.
